The risk of risking
22:53I really do appreciate talent. Trust me. Not because i can draw though, but because, to me, talent is the equal but opposite drive that keeps one moving in life. I recently stumbled upon some poems by a young lad (How i hate poems so! Blech) But this one gave me a different perspective as to the beauty of Poems. It is titled:
THE RISK OF RISKING
To laugh is to risk appearing a fool
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk involvement
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
To share ideas and dreams is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return
As to live is to risk dying, so to hope to risk despair
To try is to risk failure. The greatest risk is not to risk
The one who risks nothing, does nothing, is nothing
Chained by his certitudes, he forfeited his freedom
For only the one who risks is free.
